about that blog...

Yes, I have been neglecting the blog world. Ever since we moved here I feel like all my free time/weekends are spent grocery shopping, doing laundry, cleaning our apartment, sleeping, and gearing up for another hard work week. As such, the blog has been sitting at the bottom of my list for a very long time. But I feel a need to document this time in our lives, so as busy and hectic as it is, the blogging will continue!

We are loving our new home here in the bay area. We live in a cute little apartment in Emeryville, right across the bay bridge from San Francisco. Mike works in Emeryville and I work in the city (most the time...depending on the client). We both work pretty long days throughout the week. And although we are both getting awesome experience and learning a ton....we live for the weekends! We have a great ward, and are lucky to get to go to church right next to the temple. The food here is fantastic and the weather is perfectly fall-like all year round. (but I must admit I am missing the snow a little bit...)

After living here for three months now, I've learned a few things:

-You can never predict traffic
-I do not like chicken feet
-An open seat on the BART makes my day a million times better
-Timmy Lincecum is amazing
-Rain boots are a must-have item
-Baking is so much easier at low altitudes
-Target (as much as I love it) is even better with shopping cart escalators
-Coming home to Mike is the best part of my day :)

Here a few pics to begin my blog catchup...

back in the bay

We made it to our new home in the bay area. We got here on Friday and have been moving in all weekend. Minus a couple breaks for Bakesale Betty's and sushi...the food is the best here!

Mike starts his new job tomorrow, and I start in a week and a half. In the mean time I'll be busy shopping for my new business clothes and decorating our apartment.

I'll be posting pics soon of our big move and our cute apartment as soon as we get internet (and we don't have to mooch off the nearby marriott :)

boating & ben folds {july 17}

We had such a fun time boating with mike's friends. Despite the choppy water, we wakeboarded anyway. And we found the inner surfer in mike. I just love boating.

{sometimes it takes a few tries to get a good picture...or get mike to smile}

Later that evening we met up with the Adams family and went to the Ben Folds concert up at the Deer Valley resort. He performed with the Symphony and it was absolutely fabulous.
*Side note: Last time Ben came to utah {april 23 2008} mike and I were both in attendance, but failed to see eachother & rekindle our long lost love, so it only seems appropriate that we went to this concert together :)

just a reminder...

I put up some new recipes on adams family kitchen. Enjoy!

stewart falls {july 10}

The Adams family {me, mike, glen, shereen, & josh} took a beautiful hike up through provo canyon to Stewart Falls. It was a gorgeous day. It reminded me of our hike last summer through the redwoods. Mike even took a dip in the freezing cold water. What a man. I love being outdoorsy once in a while :)

stadium of fire {july 3}

To celebrate the 4th we went to the stadium of fire with Mike's family.

Some highlights:
-cringing to the MAAKOA mic yelling
-going back to the boy band days circa 1999 with the 2nd generation Osmonds
-being completely blown away by Carrie Underwood

Carrie was seriously amazing. She's one of those performers who are even better live. She started the night singing the national anthem which left us a little teary-eyed. Some favorites from the concert: Temporary Home, Jesus Take the Wheel, and of course All-American Girl.

The night was complete with the incredible fireworks show! (which became even more exciting when a firework went into the audience, yikes)

Thanks Adams family for the fun night!

golf {all summer long}

I never knew how much Mike liked playing golf until this summer. But I'll admit I've been catching a little bit of the golf bug too :) We've played so much golf this summer with friends & family. These few pictures are from golfing with Ash & Andrew at the beautiful Red Ledges course.

birthday bash {june 12}

My 23rd birthday was the best day EVER. Seriously, it was fabulous. I woke up and enjoyed delicious cinnamon rolls for breakfast. Then I went with my mom and sister to Nordstrom for a makover and of course new makeup purchases. Cafe Rio for lunch. Then I hung out with my hubby in the afternoon and enjoyed a bike ride, sushi, and decorated for my awesome party that night.

My mom provided the delicious cake from 'Nothing Bundt Cakes'. White chocolate raspberry w/cream cheese frosting. Definitely the best cake I've ever eaten. (Yes, even better than all the wedding cakes I tasted working at the Alpine Art Center).

Don't you just love birthdays?

summer catchup

I know, I know, I've been TOTALLY slacking on the blogging. This summer has been so crazy and busy with work, CPA studying (1 down, 3 to go!), family reunions, vacations etc. I'm going to try my best to catch you all up on our fun summer in the next few posts.

happy one year to us!

Our one year anniversary was May 8, 2010. I can't believe it's been one year already! I've absolutely loved every minute of it, and can't wait for many more wonderful years to come {Love you mike!}

To celebrate we went out to dinner at Five Alls up in SLC. It was delicious! I loved the renaissance style dining with the pewter dishes & goblets, and a full five course meal complete with filet mignon and chocolate mousse. So good.

rilee + tommy

One of my best friends, rilee, got married on the sixth of may. She looked absolutely beautiful. It was so much fun to be with the roommates {minus kristen...miss her!} and catch up while the husbands played on iphones. Maybe one day when my accounting degree pays off I'll be an awesome wifey and get one for mike.

My favorite part of the day was when us roommates sang at the luncheon. So special :) Congrats newlyweds!

the happiest place on earth!

The weekend after graduation we went to Disneyland with Mike's family. It was so so so much fun. Preston and Liz were so excited, they even dressed up as Woody and Minnie Mouse. So cute! Our magical day included breakfast with the characters, meeting all the princesses, going on all the classic rides, and of course getting soaked on splash mountain.

graduation!

The mr. & mrs. graduated from BYU last weekend. Mike got his Bachelors in Economics, and I got my Masters in Accountancy. It feels so wonderful to finally be done with school forever! Now onto the CPA exam and the "real" job...I can't wait :)

Valentine's Weekend

We spent Valentine's weekend with Mike's family, up at the cabin. We had a delicious dinner at Snake Creek Grill in Heber. So yummy! Seriously, if you haven't been there, you should go (or get your parents to take you if you can't afford it - thanks Glen & Shereen :) Mike said it was the best steak he ever had. And this guy knows his steak.

We played at the cabin the rest of the weekend - watching the olympics, playing ticket to ride, hot tubbing, and sledding. Of course I forgot my snow clothes, but no worries, I got to wear a sweet red snowsuit that was up at the cabin. Gotta love it.

Overall it was a great weekend, spent with those I love.
Happy Valentine's Day!

Holidays

I know this is a little late, but I was so busy being lazy all Christmas break and now with the craziness of school, I haven't had a chance to update.

Anyway, we had such a wonderful holiday season! We spent Christmas with Mike's family up at a cabin in Heber. We had so much fun spending time together playing in the snow, skiing, riding on the Polar Express, going out to eat, etc.

We also enjoyed spending time with my family over New Years. I can't believe it's finally 2010!!! Lots to look forward to: graduation, moving to the big city, starting a "real" job, and another year to spend with my fabulous husband :)
